What is a philosophy?

A abstract principles is a set of concepts and relation statements that enable one to have knowledge of, describe, explain, evaluate, predict, and have charge of things (phenomena). Theory-makers are riddle-solvers. Humans naturally invent theories. What practise theories do?
Five functions of theories:
1. Comprehension - theories exalt understanding
1. Explanation - theories explain
2. Prediction - theories prophesy
3. Control - theories provide certainty
4. Criticism - theories prepare a basis for evaluation and common-sense
