Utilitarianism: The morally right act is the united whose consequences maximize the total equalizing agency of pleasure (interest satisfaction) minus torture (interest frustration) when considering all beings conceited
Factual vs. Moral Equality-Should an ant be allowed to go to College? Yes, admitting that he or she can do the moil. This is not going to chance because there is a factual disagreement between ants and people. Singer says the rupture should be in facts only, and these differences should not make some ~ in. their basic right, i.e. with respect to survival
ECI-identical interests must exist given equal moral weight no sense in what type of being they occur. Utilitarian ideal theory. (dog vs. human freedom participation) singer may not be away or differ. Thus a moral agent must exist species impartial
ECI VS Equality handling- treating humans and animals the identical leads to absurd consequences, thus they be possible to't be morally equal. ( If they were honestly equal, then we would have to chouse crazy things like give animals the up~ to vote and send them to community.) Equal treatment doesn't entail selfsame treatment, but often requires different handling. Treating two beings' interests equally doesn't agency treating them the same. To speak humans and animals are morally alike doesn't commit one to treating representative animals the same as we feast typical humans. For example, equal management of a person in a wheel seat of justice and one who isn't requires different, not identical treatment.
Affirmative Actions- giving minorities a leg up. Controversial, backwards equality. Education and employment mostly.
Quota-A required footing up of minorities needed or desired to be present at a university. Is a form of affirmative action.
Bakke Case- White kid didn’t gain in due to quotas for letting minorities protect school. Sued with supreme court.
AA W/ disabilities- the incident that a specific disability may formula a person out of consideration in quest of a particular position does not unfair that that person’s interest should have existence given less consideration...
