Productions[edit]
The show was capital produced at the off-Broadway Westbeth Theatre, running from July 30, 1990 to August 16, 1990. Joe Layton directed and choreographed, with a cast that featured Chuck Cooper, Lillias White, and Mamie Duncan-Gibbs.
The Broadway production, directed by Michael Blakemore, opened attached April 26, 1997 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, at what place it closed on June 7, 1998 subsequently for 466 performances and 21 previews. Among a broad cast were Pamela Isaacs, Chuck Cooper, Lillias White, and Sam Harris, winner of the capital Star Search television competition in 1984. Choreography was ~ means of Joey McKneely, scenic design by Robin Wagner, style of dress design by Martin Pakledinaz, and lighting design by Richard Pilbrow.
White and Cooper the pair won Tony awards for their performances in this production.
The US Regional Premiere took position at The Height Theatres in Houston, TX in April of 1999. Directed through Ron Jones and choreographed by Jim Williams, by musical direction by Stephen Jones, the parade featured Tamara Siler at Queene, Mia Fisher viewed like Sonja, Illich Guardiola as Fleetwood, L. Jay Meyer while Lou, Johanna Beth Harris as Mary, Bob Beare while Lacy, and Johnathan McVey as JoJo.

The Life depicts the pulsating life steady the Times Square streets in the 1980s, in which place everything had a price, especially sex-the flashy topless bars, the transvestite joints, the hookers who worked the indirect walks at the bidding of their pimps ("Check It Out!").
