Virgil protects Dante throughout the journey and Dante looks to him as a father figure, not only inasmuch as of his protection but because of his renown as a poet in life. Until they fall upon the Rebellious Angels, Virgil is quick to rebuke the creatures they come against. However since he symbolizes human sense and reason only takes a someone so far, he needs to demand on the help of the Angels a small in number times during their journey.
c. Beatrice
i. Beatrice is the type of divine love and sends Virgil to rule Dante. She also must take through the whole extent of for the final ascent to Heaven, for the reason that human reason can only go for a like rea~n far.
d. The Leopard
i. The Leopard symbolizes the crimes of pique and fraud, the 1st division of sins in Hell. Dante meets the Leopard under which circumstances in the Dark Wood of Error. Virgil has to except him from this beast. The be~ Leopard is large and strong with a bright, gaudy pelt.
e. The Lion
The Lion symbolizes the crimes of fierceness and ambition, the 2nd division of sins in Hell. Dante meets the Lion as long as in the Dark Wood of Error. Virgil has to furthermore save him from this beast. The Lion is ravening and has a large head, that scares Danteп»ї
