F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote his strange The Great Gatsby to be a cogitation of the 1920’s, as in like manner he included many of the greater changes to occur during the time. Some of the changes that are featured in the main division are prohibition, organized crime, the women’s testimonial music, jazz music, and the monetary boom. Prohibition was the constitutional prohibition on the sale, production, importation, and conveyance of alcoholic beverages in the United States from 1920 to 1933. The movement was mainly the doing of a religious nonage, and many people had no honest qualms with drinking and were alto gether willing to alcohol illegally. Because of these reasons fortunes could subsist made smuggling it in. Fitzgerald uses interdict in The Great Gatsby in three ways. The ~ and foremost way is he has Gatsby produce a bulk of his fortune bootlegging pure spirit in for Wolfsheim, a man profoundly involved with organized crime. The reader knows this for when Nick asks after Gatsby’s decease if he started him Wolfsheim responds, “Start him! I made him.” (171). The encourage way he uses prohibition is by subtly showing the immorality in the “aged money” upper class. Many of the nation responsible for prohibition had much in often met with with Tom and Daisy, born to relieved, wealthy families, who had plenty of political connections, yet Tom and Daisy drink in dissoluteness. The third reason is to discover Nick’s hypocrisy. Nick claims that at Tom’s gathering at his apartment in New York City that, “I gain been drunk twice in my life, and the inferior time was that afternoon.” (29). Yet according to the rest of the novel he drinks freely and becomes inebriated on multiple occasions including Gatsby’s troop, and the day Myrtle was gain the point by the car.
