In Willa Cather’s story, “Paul’s Case,” Paul suffered setbacks and dilemmas inasmuch as he never knew his mother considered in the state of she died around the time of his creation. Therefore, he is lacking that motherly guidance of emotional stability that every child needs to grow mentally. Paul is withdrawn from social sympathy, and he resorts to the arts and music to feel comfortable and free from his disassociation and tact of loneliness. In ‘A Rose with regard to Emily,” Miss Emily is limited from connection for the majority of her life ~ means of her father, so after he has died, she longs because relations that ironically her longing destroys. The gravity and obsession radiated throughout the fib portray the difficulty at hand.

While Paul lives in ~y ordinary active neighborhood, he does not in fact participate socially. For example, “on the be unexhausted Sunday of November Paul sat completely the afternoon on the lowest step of his flagon, staring into the street” (23). Miss Emily is first explained similar to a nice, sweet, and normal woman, notwithstanding that that all changed as her life went ~ward. The death of her father was the enthusiasm that ignited all of this weirdness of Emily.
