The enslavement of African Americans outset in the earliest days of our founding in the same proportion that a colony of England, and ending in 1865, represents the most fundamental denial of rights. Slaves had not at all rights whatsoever, and were even threadbare, raped, and killed by their pallid owners and overseers. During this time, uniform freedmen risked re-enslavement if they were suspected of core a runaway slave. Slavery was officially banned in the United States through the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment at the expiration of the Civil War. After root freed, African Americans were also with the understanding with the same rights afforded to the whole of Americans. The Fourteenth Amendment granted citizenship and degree protection, and the Fifteenth Amendment by stipulation all males with the right to consecrated by a vow. However, shortly after Reconstruction ended, African Americans once again were denied basic civil rights.

Jim Crow laws were passed and Black Codes were designed to observe African Americans in conditions very be brought together to the previous servitude. Eventually, racial parting took hold, and in 1896 the landmark Supreme Court capsule of Plessy v. Ferguson established the Separate But Equal Doctrine. This stated that so long as the facilities granted for each race were equal, they were legal. Thus, legal segregation would be the model for at least the next fifty years. Plessy v. Ferguson was eventually overturned in 1954 in the Brown v. Board cover in which the Supreme Court past dispute that all public schools were to integrate in the manner that quickly as possible. Then, Rosa Parks refused to affect to the back of the bus to compose a white passenger in 1955. Eventually, from one side an organized bus boycott forced the expiration of segregated bus seating in Montgomery, Alabama. The Civil Rights Movement continued, ruling to an expansion of rights publicly enjoyed by all African Americans today.
