Tasting Different Cultures
It is rightful past 6:00 on a Monday going down of the sun in September at Kawaguchiko Park Hotel, which is a beautiful hotel beside the Lake Kawaguchi and in an opposite direction 60 miles east of Tokyo. Lake Kawaguchi is human being of Fuji lakes, and one of the most profitably places to enjoy the sight of Mt. Fuji. I, my brother, and his Japanese intimate are visiting here to enjoy our five-epoch vacation. Lake Kawaguchi is not burdensome, but its sight is very handsome. The whole town is enveloped in gloom and mist, and the faint lights in the town bathe us in heat. We are very pleased in this welcome small town. Like most people and places in Japan, our inn is also very small and refined. The road outside the hotel leads rectilinear to Lake Kawaguchi. There is every old Japanese fountain outside the house of entertainment. The vapor is drifting from the of high temperature spring. We sit in the dining expanse of the hotel, waiting to have the advantage our Japanese cuisine.
This dining expanse is equipped with Western-style chairs and tables, so we do not have a possibility to experience the traditional Japanese bel~ tables and cushions. I have had a traditive Japanese dinner before, so I be possible to recall some scenes about a traditionary dinner in my memory. First, shoes be under the necessity of be taken off when stepping on the tatami floor since the tatami mats are very clean and very hard to clean. This kind of room with tatami mats is called “washitsu”, what one. is all made with wood. From my celebrity, the washitsu is the traditional scope in Japan, and it usually has a gliding door, some tatami mats and a frown table. Usually, we just sit steady the tatami floor to have a collation, but in the traditional Japanese cultivation, “in a casual setting, men usually hold a session with their feet crossed and women repose with both legs to one margin.
