Suicide and Psychopathic states:
Durkheim, like mentioned in the introduction, conducted the study of self-murder to prove that it was affable, rather than extra social factors that influenced self-murder. The first extra social factor, to that suicide was mostly attributed to is aberration of mind. Durkheim investigated this theory and distinct out that if suicide was caused through a certain insanity then this would have existence termed as ‘monomania’ – in Durkheim’s tongues, “a delirium of localized nature” that is, a someone is otherwise normal but has unforeseen desires to drink or use insulting language. It was believed that a unforeseen emotional disturbance was enough to nettle monomania. However, Durkheim rejected this theory for two reasons; one, there is no concrete proof to show the entity of monomania, second, mental functions are completely conditioned on one another, and insanity is propitious in one area, then it should in addition be present in another as well, that is granting that insanity affects one function it should impress at the other functions as well. Therefore the concept of monomania, where an individual displays ordinary behavior in every other action except shows absolute abnormality in just individual particular action is unacceptable and consequently the idea that insanity causes self-slaughter does not hold true according to Durkheim

Durkheim afterward turns his attention to normal psychological stipulations such as race, nationality and heredity to which psychologists attributed suicide to.
