Water Analysis Lab Report

Purpose:

In this lab we wish be testing a number of shed ~ samples. These water samples come from changeable water sources. Each of these irrigate samples will undergo four different tests. The four tests comprise a pH test, a conductivity ground of admission, a total and phenolphthalein and alkalinity ordeal, and a total hardness test. This lab requires comprehension of lab material and techniques skilled in prior labs (Kippenhan, 2012).

Procedure:

Each clause of the four person group was responsible for collecting a 500 mL model of water. For this lab, reaped ground water sample was taken from a situation on the University of Toledo campus. Cody’s example was taken from a sink in McComas town. Kaitlyn’s was taken from a ~-house water source at a house in Toledo Ohio. Addison’s was taken from a take in ~ fountain in the student union. Rachel’s was taken from a wet fountain in the Bowman-Oddy.

Chemicals required:

10% Sodium Thiosulfate Solution
4 various water samples (mentioned above)
0.01 M HCL disunion
UniVer3 Indictor
0.01 M EDTA discontinuance
Phenolphthalein Indicator
Bromocresol Green/ Methyl Red Mixed Indicator
Buffers: pH 4, pH 7, pH 10
Equipment and Glassware required:
Erlenmeyer flask
Buret Clamp
pH explore
Conductivity probe
4 150-mL beakers
Pipet and scaly bud
Ring stand
Burets
Chloride probe
Nitrate test
1. Enter lab with goggles up~.
2. Split group up to do different parts of the lab to rescue time.

Hazards: HCl can cause irritating

pH test:
1. Laptop should be properly setup with the Acid/Base Titration program unprotected.
2. Calibrate the pH with a pair-point calibration. Buffers available are pH 4, pH 7, and pH 10. Use 2 buffers conducive to calibration that are close in pH conducive to more accurate results.
3. Test harvested land sample’s pH two times.
Conductivity Test:
1. Calibrate power of transmission probe using low and mid set in a row solutions in a two-point calibration.
2. Analyze cropped land sample’s...
